A cutting tool RFQ checklist for overseas purchasing

A useful request for quotation identifies the exact tool, workpiece, quantity and destination. A missing catalogue price means a quotation is needed; it does not mean the tool is free.
Identify the tool or service
Start with an Exactalloy product link and SKU if one exists. For a replacement part, provide the complete existing designation. For a custom tool or regrinding request, attach a dimensioned drawing and describe the condition or requirement.
- Include dimensions, units and tolerances rather than a photograph alone.
- For threading, specify the standard, size, pitch, internal or external thread and required depth.
- For indexable tools, provide the insert and holder designation together.
Describe the application
State the workpiece material grade, actual hardness, machine, operation, coolant and relevant clearance limits. Mention surface finish and dimensional requirements. This allows the proposed specification to be checked against the intended use without inventing missing conditions.
Separate price, availability and delivery
Specify the quantity for each SKU, sample needs, delivery country and postcode, and requested delivery date. Ask the quotation to distinguish tool price, shipping, lead time and any applicable taxes or import responsibilities. Website currency selection alone does not confirm delivery coverage or import costs.
Confirm before purchasing
Keep the final specification, quantities, quotation currency, validity period and delivery terms together. Ask about inspection documents and return conditions if they matter to the order. Do not treat a product photograph or an unconfirmed request as a binding technical specification.
